Every year in Ukraine, almost 3500 babies are born with heart defects that develop during pregnancy. About 700 of them are rescued at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Another 19,000 babies are born prematurely. Most are nursed at the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology. These two huge medical institutions need help, because they need equipment to save lives, since the professionalism of doctors and the desire to save lives are not enough. The success of the rescue depends on the availability of modern medical equipment.

The children's operating room is the heart of the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. This is exactly the operating room where Nikolai Mikhailovich Amosov worked. This is a large hall with 2 operating places. When 2 critically small patients are admitted, operations are performed on two operating tables at once. Here, a cesarean section is also performed for pregnant women with critical cardiac pathology, as well as for a child born with a perinatal established congenital heart disease.

The tables that are now functioning are the achievements of humanitarian aid in the early 2000s. Of course, they are very outdated and inconvenient during operations. New operating tables have an electric drive, several angles of inclination and rotation, allowing doctors to carry out operations of any complexity. New medical equipment will improve patient safety and give children the chances of a long and healthy life. During the year, 300 children and pregnant women will be rescued on these operating tables.

The Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology is the only scientific and practical institution in Ukraine that in a complex solves all the pressing issues of maternal and child health. Children from all regions of Ukraine and severe categories of patients are treated here. First of all, these are those patients who cannot be helped at the place of residence and the institute plays the role of an instance where future mothers and sick children come with the hope of recovery. Most congenital malformations can only be operated on in the IPAG due to the unique experience and specialists.

Now the department of anesthesiology and intensive care needs an incubator for nursing premature babies. Such an incubator for a premature baby creates conditions for intrauterine stay. It is as if the baby is in the mother's tummy, and this has a beneficial effect on his adaptation, further development and full recovery. It provides an automatic supply of oxygen to maintain the optimal temperature, provides moisture, and the mother can freely contact with her blood vessels as needed. There are 2 incubators in the department, which do not function at all, because they have exhausted their resources.

To provide these two hospitals with modern medical equipment, on June 1, 2021, the WOG company together with the Tvoya Opora charitable foundation together with Masha Efrosinina and the charity platform dobro.ua announced the beginning of a new stage of the social project "The Road of Kindness".

This year we set an ambitious goal – to raise UAH 3 million for the purchase of modern medical equipment for the children's operating room of the Amosov Institute and for the department of anesthesiology and resuscitation of the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The collected amount will be used to purchase 2 operating tables at the Amosov Institute and incubators at the IPAG. This equipment will significantly improve the course of operations and the nursing period for young patients of institutions.

And you can become part of an important mission and join the project in three ways:

1. Buy a coffee drink in a special charity cup at any filling station of the WOG and WOG CAFE chain. The cost of a drink in such a glass is 3 hryvnia more than in a regular one.

2. You can contribute to this project and all funds will be used to purchase equipment for two children's hospitals.

3. You can send a charity SMS to 88001 (SMS cost UAH 20).

Note that the project has been going on for over 11 years. Thanks to everyone who at one time or another joined the action, more than UAH 20 million was collected. This made it possible to provide expensive repair of equipment in medical institutions throughout the country, to purchase new modern devices for them, thereby saving children's lives. During the previous wave of the action, which ended at the end of summer 2020, a record was set – more than UAH 3 million were collected. The funds raised were used to purchase equipment for the pediatric operating room of the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. N. Amosova.

Join the action, which aims to save thousands of premature babies and children with heart defects!
