Drohobych – united and strong!

War has come to the house of every Ukrainian. Thousands of people have already suffered from the hostilities of the invaders: someone has lost their home, someone has to go to a safer place, someone has been left without food and water. Today, western Ukraine has become a haven for many who need help.

The Charitable Foundation " Caritas Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of UGCC" works in Drohobych and helps people who come here from all over Ukraine. For some, this is just a stopover on the way to another country, for others it is a temporary refuge. For all Ukrainians, we are equipping heating points located along the Polish border, providing people arriving in our community with the most important things – food, water, medicines, diapers and baby food. Here everyone can relax, take a shower, eat and, if necessary, go further. We also transport women and children to the Ukrainian border.

Now in our territorial community there are more than 2,000 internally displaced persons from all over Ukraine who need support. About 500 people have already turned to us for help. In order for us to be able to provide the necessary assistance to all of them in time, we urgently need to purchase clothes (women's home clothes, underwear, pajamas and socks), rubber slippers, personal hygiene products and disposable tableware. The aim of this project is to provide 500 IDPs from all over Ukraine (mostly women with children) staying in Drohobych with the essentials so that they can feel comfortable and warm and receive shelter, albeit temporarily.
