The second wind – a run for the sake of revival. Akhtem Seitablaev

Akhtem Seitablaev is a well-known Ukrainian actor, film director, TV presenter joined the Charity marathon within NovaPoshtaKyivHalfMarathon 2016 for the sake of generous aim and supporting The project «Second Wind” of ALL-Ukrainian Charity Foundation “Krona”.

The aim of our team on this Charity Run is to raise 150 000 UAH to purchase a compressor for the child's reanimation in the National Hospital for children "OKHMATDYT".

"Recently my friend's son got into an accident. Everyone was worried about his life. We saw how selflessly the doctors of intensive care were fighting for his recovery. I understand the cost of every minute, every second one may spend without oxygen. It also makes me understand the importance of life-saving apparatus. The life that has just started must go on – in a decent and healthy way. And if suddenly it seems that the end is near, we mustn’t stop, but try to open a second wind instead, come back to the track and move on. I can help to implement that, and I'm ready to do it" – says Akhtem.

Children with different pathologies and grave conditions (traumas, burns, after operations, premature newborns) are treated in the Reanimation and Intensive Therapy Department in the National hospital OKHMATDYT.

During last two years Department accepted in one and a half more patients. Child in a comma or a premature newborn can’t breathe independently; breathing is performed by the respiratory equipment. There are only a few seconds for doctors to connect to the equipment that will replace lungs or will help a child to breathe. An interruption in the serve of can cost the child’s life. Now in the Department a compressor that gives oxygen to the respiratory equipment is broken.
