Being 12 years old boys dream of having a new bike, they want to travel and in need of the exciting discoveries, but Dmitrii’s dream can surprise and shock at the same time as he wants to be able simply to move independently and to play football. While boys play robbers and pirates running in search of treasure Dmitrii fights the invisible daily battle for having a proper life. Not that many children can wrung out 10 times in a row but he can! Yes, he can! Despite the long road traveling he is strong-willed, kind and does not cease to believe in miracles!

Dmitrii is ill with cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia) and for a professional jolt he needs rehab for two weeks which costs UAH 15 600 and can be done to him at the Medical Center of Physical Therapy and Pain Medicine "Innova". His parents do their best to put Dmitrii on his feet and so not to waste the results of such a laborious and time-consuming work which has already been done up to now. During all those 12 years they have been fighting on their own and it is for the first time they ask for help from other people. There’s just a little bit more money left to get and the miracle will happen!

That's what Dmitrii’s mother says:

"Taking our son to the various rehabilitation centers, sanatoriums, institutions and medical institutions helped us to overcome this disease. Dmitrii has been very bravely endured and still maintains everything which is being done to him: medical treatments, massages, needles, different kinds of mud, gypsum and much more. Probably there are no other methods left which Dmitrii has not experienced yet. Many of them brought positive results. This boy does therapeutic exercises every day for 2 hours a day for all these years.

Now he has a very difficult and crucial period. In 2015 a complicated operation on his hip and knee joints was done in the Sitenko institute (Kharkiv, Ukraine) assembled on the screws and plastered up to his chest. It was followed by the painful development and rehabilitation. After this operation, the child had to be taught all over again. And not every child can do it. Together we went through all these difficulties and laborious path. In May 2016 we made the final step on the feet, implants were put into the foot. This allowed him to stand freely and have full support for the whole foot. Without it, it would be impossible to walk properly at all.

Today Dima can stand on his own, walk with support and even tries to do his first steps very carefully and slowly. Now there are only 2 of them but they are independent. This is such a great success! Believe me, the most important thing in our lives is to teach him to walk. We dream of a fulfilling life for our child. He was a good student at the school, he has a lot of friends who help him, almost everyone in school supports him. We thank God for giving us such a great, strong in spirit and brave, courageous child. And we believe that miracles do happen, we just have to wait for a little bit longer."
