Blood Factor

The human bodyconsists of separate bodies, but only one liquid unites them and nourishes life. There are cases where only donated blood can save life. And for children with cancer of the hematopoietic system it is needed every day and constantly! But now sick children cannot get the quality blood components due to the lack of necessary medical supplies in the Transfusion Department in The National Children Specialized Hospital "OHMATDET".

The transfusion department of "OHMATDET" provides donated blood for 300 sick children daily. But now the department is in an emergency – the government funding is reduced and cost of equipment and supplies rose by half, so state procurement can provide only 40% of the needs.

There is even a lack of sterile vacuum systems for collecting, storaging and testing the blood. Today the department somehow manages multiple testing tubes, and employees washes and sterilize them. But this method not ensures the necessary purity and the quality of donated blood.

Transplantation department needs 40 000 blood collection tubes per year. We plan to collect 29 584 UAH to buy 10 800 vacuum blood collection tubes.
