Tilting beds to OncoHematology

Children, getting treatment by anticancer medicaments at Ivano-Frankivsk Children's Hospital, constantly suffer from chemotherapy medicament side-effects. Patients are too weak: they spend time laying down on their beds. We want to make their staying in the hospital comfortable by special medical beds purchase. These tilting (surgical) beds with handrails can be regulated and tilted. They are not so much for children, but for their parents – because parents have to move, to wash their child.

Just imagine- every day, every hour of long months they feel weakness, they are vulnerable to infections, they have vomiting, bleeding, poor coordination of movements, stomatitis, and muscle fatigue. Average duration of children’s treatment at oncology hospital is more then half of year, so it is very important to provide comfortable conditions for children and care for medical staff. A child, who was very lively and restless just yesterday, today is bedridden. Except chemotherapy side effects, there are cases of a child plastered from head to toe. On this background we really don’t speak about non-avoidable pressure sores. This situation being for six months is too difficult not only for adults, but for the children.

By this project we try just a little to make their staying in hospital comfortable. This project was developed not so for the small patients, but for their parents - because parents have to move, to wash their child.

We want to purchase tilting (surgical) beds. These beds allow patient position adjusting, including remote control by console. All beds have back and additionally side fences. These fences can be removed for convenience of patients care.

For still bedridden patients there are antidecubital systems. These systems consist of antidecubital mattress and electric pump, which in turn pumps up the various part of the mattress. It provides normal blood supply, nutrition and respiration of tissues. Medical beds can be adjusted for height, also they can be equipped by wheels with brakes. Advanced such medical beds can have a handle for the patient can independently get out of bed, for example, take a sitting position.
