Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine is currently affecting thousands of civilians. Besides military facilities, hostile bombs and missiles are ruining houses, administrative buildings, theatres, and hospitals. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, occupiers destroyed 9 boarding schools and dispensaries for disabled and elderly people.

At the moment, more than 1,000 of patients and staff of those institutions have been evacuated from Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Kyiv regions to Western Ukraine. In particular, to the city of Lviv and its region. Local communities are urgently preparing places to accommodate refugees with special needs.

In particular, up to 500 patients, who need special care and treatment, can be accommodated in premises of the former regional psychiatric hospital in the village of Zaklad, Stryi district. Among them are patients of Oskil Boarding School in Izyum district, which was destroyed by Russian missiles on March 11. At least 100 people, evacuated from Popasna Boarding School in Luhansk region, need accommodation too.

The regional psychiatric hospital in Zaklad was closed in 2017. The building was left without water supply and heating for a few years. Most inner communications have deteriorated and collapsed. Now, locals decided to restore the building in order to host refugees with special needs. Heating, electricity and water supply have already been repaired. Windows were replaced on two floors. However, the building still doesn't have hot water, plumbing in toilets and showers.

To create decent conditions for care, treatment, and nutrition of patients, we need to equip bathrooms and showers, as well as purchase and install water boilers in 5 departments. This needs to be done as soon as possible.

Requirements are: 13 boilers with 100- liters capacity (10 of them will be placed in showers, and other 3 in kitchen units), 28 washbasins, 28 mixer taps, 10 wc.

Help us provide evacuated old people and people with disabilities with decent sanitary and hygienic conditions!
