I, Vasyl Miroshnichenko, will be a hero to rural schools and help children from village schools take part in a GoCamp project and get modern, qualitative education, learn foreign languages and spend three unforgettable weeks with a foreign volunteer. Learning foreign language essentially changed my life – it opened me the access to opportunities and knowledge and gave me a chance to study in an American school.
Knowledge of English gave me an opportunity to establish contacts with the European youth through participation in European Youth Parliament events, which in its turn became one of the main factors which allowed me to take part in the Canadian Parliament Internship program. I am consulting the International Companies today. Life gave me a chance to travel a lot and study languages, but a lot of children did not go far from their villages and do not have a chance to get a good education.
I have a wish to become a part of a new, young Ukrainian generation, open new levels, and opportunities of a modern world.
We’ll be able to evaluate the positive influence of GoCamp only in future, and now it’s time to take out your credit card and support the revolutionary break in learning foreign languages among Ukrainian pupils.
The GoCamp project is a school language camps involving international volunteers, who, together with English teachers, help children to learn foreign languages.
GoGamp is about opportunities which are opening for Ukrainian children (only this year 60 000 children), namely learning about cultures of various countries, developing skills, which cannot be taught at school – critical or global thinking, for instance. For many pupils, it will be their first meeting with a foreigner in their lives. In 2017, 600 volunteers are going to visit Ukraine, 80% of whom will go to small villages.
Volunteers will live with a host family of one of the pupils, which gives a special value to the project and opens the Ukrainian culture for foreigners in depth. As a result, foreigners ruin prejudice towards Ukraine, open it again and become the Ambassadors of our country in the world.
Project results in 2016:
- 120 volunteers from 40 countries;
- 127 schools GoCamps from 24 regions of Ukraine;
- 9000 children.
