Masha went to regular check ups. However her doctors didn't find anything abnormal until she turn 9 years. There was a hump in her back just below neck and it kept growing. Her doctors didn't notice it.Since Masha was a baby, her mom Natalia, noticed that there is something wrong with her daughter. She even noticed the hump in her back & was worried about it. She asked several doctors to examine it, but no doctors found it abnormal. Her doctors had mentioned that hump will disappear with her growth & recommended her mom to massage on that hump.

Masha was growing and her deformation become more and more apparent. Her doctors kept saying Masha was healthy, and kept reassuring it. Masha's mom still got all diagnosis cards that saying she was completely normal & healthy. Doctors noticed that there is something wrong with Masha when she developed cramps. By this time there were two humps one on back, and other was on chest. So doctors referred her to neurological department for assessment. But they also didn't diagnose anything there. Day by day Masha's well being got worse and she complained about pain in her back and headache. Masha's mom took her to a different city (Mukachevo, Ukraine). Their doctors assessed her and mentioned that her situation had got worse and now there is nothing can be done. They went to see Prof. Livitskiy who agreed to do constructive surgery to fix her spinal cord and put clips on her vertebrals and told It would cost 25 000 UAH.

But Natalia, a single mom with four kids, wasn't able afford it. She went public with Masha's story, and was able to find donations to raise the money. However, by this time Masha's condition got worse, and Prof. Livitskiy said that they wouldnt be able to do anything and they would have to seek help from others. They contacted neurosurgeons from local and foreign hospitals. A neurosurgical unit from Turkey (Live hospital, Istanbul) agreed to do the surgery and quoted it will cost 28 500 USD. It's literally impossible for Masha's mom to come up with this much money.

Masha is a kind, and smart girl. Her biggest dream is to live normal and healthy life. Masha and her mom are looking for help/donations from generous people around the world. A small donation from several people together would help to raise the amount required for Masha's surgery and make a positive impact in improving Masha's health and lead her live a normal life.

This project was canceled, the amount collected is 72 892 UAH. The funds were disposed of in accordance with the Rules, Principles, and Procedures of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace (UBB) International Charitable Fund and the decisions of the Project Donors.
