What is life after?

Mykyta Yazan is a boy who recovered from medulloblastoma and now he is in remission during several years. It would seem that everything is so good and positive. Unfortunately, no! Not everything. Disappointingly, the boy has not managed to overcome the consequences of the treatment yet. Although his mother does her best for her son and even more, but it’s the way it is.

Every weekend the boy goes to a swimming pool. At first, he feared, but now everything is over, quite the contrary even! Nikita became bolder and even started walking in the water! He started swimming independently! At home, the boy gains a second wind, and he tries to move as much as possible, getting out of his wheelchair.

However, all of this is physical rehabilitation. Nikita also sorely needs psychological one. Partial hearing loss, speech disorder because of this, misbalanced movements, moral condition are all the consequence of treatment and surgery. And all of this prevents complete recovery!

Mykyta’s mother spent three long years trying to find specialists who would work with Mykyta. Nevertheless, when they heard about his diagnosis, they closed the doors everywhere. It was impossible to identify the cause and develop a treatment plan! And now, three years later, a centre was finally found, which after testing the boy decided to take on him and his psychological correction.

However, the cost of such rehabilitation is too high – UAH 14 900 per month. The recommended minimum period of a course is 3 months. Then there will be an assessment of the condition and further recommendations. So Mykyta needs UAH 275 200 for a rehabilitation course. Such funds for the boy’s mother are sky-high. All these years, Olena cannot separate herself from her son; the maximum is to go to a nearby store. She adjusted herself to sew at home the bags and clothes for animals, and this way she earns herself and her son for a living. It is impossible for her to collect such an enormous sum on her own! The only hope is for kind and sympathetic people!
