"The body doesn't have the strength to fight pulmonary infections. It's time to make the decision", this winter Ivan's doctor told us bluntly, "If you want to live – it's time to put a G-tube in." Due to food malabsorption and frequent persistent infections Ivan is critically underweight. The boy is immunocompromised and has a reduced ability to fight the disease. However, Ivan is not one of those who gives in easily. He has lots of plans for the summer – well, actually, he has the whole life planned out!  

In order for these plans to be fulfilled, a special high-calorie formula needs to be purchased for his G-tube. It will help him gain weight and strength. And the disease will back down.

The feeding tube was inserted in January, since then every night his mother hooks up the system with feeding formula and the high-calorie liquid, drop by drop, enters directly the boy's digestive tract while he sleeps. This way he will get the most effect from his supplemental nutrition. The nutrition regimen has been written out for as long as three years of treatment. Every additional 100 g of body weight is a resource from which Ivanko can draw his strength to fight. You can keep cystic fibrosis under check, you can live with it for many years, except that you can't relax even for a minute.
