The diagnosis of "glioblastoma" for most people in Ukraine is a verdict. This most aggressive malignant tumor "settled" in the brain of a 16-year-old athlete Nikita Maletsky. The chance to destroy malignant cells and with that a chance to live is given to the boy by the German physicians. They are ready to start on Nikita’s treatment with modern methods of anti-tumor vaccination and immunotherapy.

This happened in January at the training of the youth soccer team Atlet. Two players, each with a ball, raced towards Nikita through the soccer field. The teener pulled together all his strength to concentrate but did not understand how to deflect the attack of the two attackers at a time. Suddenly the fog covered the playing field, it became dark... The boy lost consciousness and fell to frozen ground.

A few days before, he felt weak and noticed a dichotomy in his eyes. After him having lost conscience the parents immediately took the boy to the survey. MRI showed a tumor of the brain. Everyone was shocked because Nikita is a hard-boiled boy. He has been playing football for seven years, running, jumping, training in the fresh air. He has never had serious illnesses. Immediately the surgery was assigned. To get to the tumor, doctors had to make a trepanation of the skull. The tumor was removed. Nikita and his parents then thought that the worst was behind. But they could not imagine that it was only the beginning.

Histology showed the most malignant of all tumors of the brain – glioblastoma. In Ukraine, patients with such a diagnosis live no more than two years, because the possibilities of domestic medicine are too limited and lagging behind the world for decades. Nowadays in the world uses advanced methods of treatment of glioblastoma: immunotherapy and anti-tumor vaccination. Nikita has a chance. Parents found a clinic in Germany that is ready to take the boy for such treatment.

The cost of the course of treatment is Euro 115,850, that includes a few blocks of therapy, immune cells harvesting, and selection, vaccination, control tests. The clinic is ready to accept payment in stages – prior to each block. We plan to raise Euro 49,500 on the UBB to pay for the blocks of tumor-specific immunomodulation.

You can help Nikita by sending an SMS to number 88007, which exists precisely in order to solve the acute problems of adults and children caught between life and death. After sending an SMS to 88007, 10 UAH from your account are transferred to this project. Details here.
