Vania got diabetes when he was 5 years old. He had great thirst, then prolonged vomiting. Doctors treated the poisoning, but the kid quickly lost weight and weakened. After a full examination, Vania was diagnosed with diabetes. Since there is no children's endocrinologist in his small town, his mother had to take the child to OKHMATDYT. There, Vania was helped a lot: they removed acetone from the body, picked up insulin doses.

Due to the fact that he had frequent bouts of hypoglycemia (the sugar level drops at night so that he can fall into a coma in a dream), and during the day high sugars, Vania was given an insulin pump. With such insulin therapy, the blood sugar level was satisfactory, Vania went to school, became more active and more cheerful. But the pump expired, and Irina was forced to transfer Vania back to injections with syringes. And then the problems started...

Unlike the pump, now Vania is administered two types of insulin: short and long (background). Short insulin works and lasts up to three hours, but the long one is not absorbed, although it is unrealistically pounded with large doses. Therefore, you have to prick every 3 hours so that the condition of Vania is more stable. The injection sites began to harden, tissue lipodystrophy sets in. With such a schedule of insulin therapy, Vania misses school, frequent vomiting due to acetone appeared, became limited in everyday life, less active and a homebody.
