Childhood Stroke History
We are used to thinking that problems such as a stroke can only happen among elderly people. However, the incidence of strokes in young people has increased. Our ward, Victoria Pasconna, is a 12-year-old girl who suffered a stroke at the age of 11 currently struggling with the consequences of this terrible condition. Now the girl is trying to restore the motor function of her left arm and leg and she really needs your help. It is necessary to pay for her rehabilitation which this girl's parents can no longer afford.
A history of childhood stroke. Everything started with minor headaches which teenagers are known to be often experiencing. Moreover, in Victoria’s case, she was at that time very stressed before her tests and exams at school. Many mothers do not even pay much attention to such symptoms. Victoria’s mother wasn’t an exception although her daughter was also in pain. The basic medicine to treat headaches worked perfectly fine.
But on May 17, 2020, the girl had another headache attack that lead to numbness in her legs as well as distortion of her whole face. Victoria’s mother immediately suggested it was a stroke and urgently called an ambulance. Unfortunately, her mother's fear was confirmed. The 11-year-old active and vigorous girl had all the signs of a stroke. Victoria fell into a coma.
The rupture of a small vessel in the girl's head provoked a hematoma and the brain cells began to die gradually. A special urgent operation took place, craniotomy and a stroke hematoma removal. Victoria came out of the coma but still could not move. Fortunately, the girl's intelligence, respiratory and swallowing functions were not affected. Although her left arm and left leg still remain immobilised.
Victoria is in dire need of rehabilitation. She is now receiving specialised rehabilitation classes in the physical therapy room. But, unfortunately, her family does not have enough funds to pay for these lessons. All her relatives paid for almost one year of such rehabilitation and there is nothing left in order to continue paying. In this regard, Victoria's mother asks everyone help her daughter to recover. There is still a lot of work to do for restoring this girl’s motor functions. Your help will count for towards recovery!
