Nutrition of premature born babies

Prematurely born children, especially if they are born weighing less than 1500, aren't capable to receive and acquire enough feedstuffs, even when feeding via the probe. The large volume of food is necessary for rapid growth of the kid, and the sizes of a stomach are still very small, also activity of digestive enzymes is reduced. Therefore to such children carry out a parenteral nutrition.

Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology NAMH Ukraine - IPAH - a leading research institution in the country in the field of maternal and child health, which annually helps thousands of women and 25 children. IPAH takes the most complex cases and has the highest rate of success help premature babies. Many prematurely born children after the birth can breathe, suck and regulate temperature of the body rather actively. Only last weeks pregnancies there is a maturing of lungs, digestive tract, kidneys, a brain, work of all bodies and systems is regulated and coordinated.

Special nutrients are entered into a vein by means of the infusional pumps providing slow intake of solutions with the certain set speed. At the same time the amino acids necessary for creation of proteins, fatty emulsions and glucose which are power sources are applied. These substances are also used for synthesis of a number of hormones, enzymes and other biologically active agents. Mineral substances and vitamins are in addition entered.
Gradually the amount of an enteroalimentation increases, and parenteral decreases before its complete cancellation. Prematurely born children with diseases of digestive tract require a parenteral nutrition during longer time.
