Kherson region still needs our support!

Due to the disaster at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in June, there is currently a risk of an outbreak of acute intestinal and infectious diseases in Kherson region. High air temperatures, lack of water in many settlements of the region, and the death of animals due to flooding are conditions for the development of many serious infectious diseases, such as hepatitis, leptospirosis, and others. Therefore, the microbiology department of the clinical diagnostic laboratory at the Kherson Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital named after According to G. I. Gorbachevskii has an additional need for equipment and consumables that will help increase the volume of research to prevent and detect pathogens early, which in turn will allow for timely and appropriate treatment.

Therefore, this project will help to purchase the following equipment:

• steam sterilizer. This equipment will make it possible to increase the volume of preparation and sterilization of nutrient media:

• the clinical centrifuge is used for the distribution of the structure of liquid biological samples into their components, is an integral part in the examination of blood serum for infectious diseases;

• the pH meter is an ideal device for systematic monitoring of the pH of nutrient media, which is a very important stage for the diagnosis of intestinal diseases;

• the laboratory fume hood will provide an additional workplace for safe work with biological material, which is of great importance when the volume of work increases.

In response to the disaster, 100 additional beds were deployed at the hospital. The institution is preparing to receive people, and in the event of such a situation, the existing equipment in the hospital is simply not enough, and it is also outdated, and there is a risk that it will not be able to cope with the load.

We believe that the best thing to do is to prevent undesirable situations rather than eliminate their consequences, so our project is very important now and will help prevent a crisis and save lives.
