His date of birth carries a special symbolism. Yaroslav was born on December 3rd - on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. As if life itself wished to remind us: this boy came into the world to prove, day after day, how much a human heart can endure.
He was born very prematurely, weighing just 1.71 kilograms at the 31st week of pregnancy. Doctors immediately diagnosed him with severe hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. Instead of joyful smiles - hospital walls. Instead of his first toys - medical equipment.
The first months of his life were spent under constant medical supervision. However, time revealed just how challenging Yaroslav's journey would be. He did not reach for toys, did not smile, and was unable to roll over. By the age of one, he still could not sit, stand, crawl, or speak. The diagnosis followed - cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, seizure syndrome, and a birth injury to the cervical spine.
When he turned two, his mother brought him for the first time to the Institute for Pain Problems. Since then, he has undergone numerous treatment courses. Though this path has been difficult, it has brought hope. Thanks to the efforts of his doctors, Yaroslav began to speak words, better understand others, sleep more peacefully, and the frequency of his seizures has decreased. Yet, his journey is far from over. Treatment must continue - otherwise, all progress risks being lost.
Yaroslav suffers from optic nerve atrophy and has no object vision. He cannot use his hands independently. However, his genuine smile remains a small ray of sunshine in the daily life of his family.
His family consists of three people - his mother, his father (a person with a second-degree disability), and Yaroslav himself. Their home is not about material wealth. It is about struggle, mutual support, and unwavering faith.
Yaroslav's story is a testament to the importance of never giving up, to the power of love that exceeds any diagnosis, and to the fact that every act of kindness can bring him one step closer to a better life.
Please, do not remain indifferent if you have the heart and the means to help.
