There are 129 children with complex developmental disabilities residing in the Znamianka orphanage. They are all different in their abilities. The vast majority of children needs constant support, care, rehabilitation, and improvement. Moreover, not only they are able but have the right to education, which should be designed accordingly to their individual characteristics and demands. If these children were brought up in families, they would certainly have a chance to receive inclusive or home-based education.

Moreover, not only they are able but have the right to education, which should be designed accordingly to their individual characteristics and demands. If these children were brought up in families, they would certainly have a chance to receive inclusive or home-based education.

We attempt to equip a training room in the orphanage, where a team of correctional educator, speech therapist and the assistant would work with the children, followed by a special educational program, on a daily basis. For this purpose, various development and didactic materials designed to teach children with developmental disorders are required. Among those essential ones are: samples for training the writing, primers, mathematics textbooks, the Ukrainian language grammar books, toys, different artistic materials.

Gradually new methods of development and education of children with severe developmental disorders are introduced in Ukraine. But most importantly – the understanding comes that every child can learn and improve their knowledge. Children with disabilities need no isolation, but certain conditions, approaches and auxiliary equipment for training. The equipped training room will give them the opportunity to learn something new about themselves and the world around, to communicate, to learn to write, to count and to believe in their possibilities. After all, all children have the right to education!
