I want to enjoy life

16-year-old Aleksei has a rare malady which only affects boys - a one out of a quarter of a million chance. It is Bruton syndrome. However, Aleksei is a strong guy and is ready to fight the disease and take special therapy throughout his lifetime. But recently the doctors found that the boy has hepatitis B and C, which he received through injections against Bruton’s syndrome. At the moment the boy has almost no immunity and treatment of hepatitis should be started immediately, but the family has no money left.

After the first year of his life Aleksei kept getting flu’s and colds, and treatment gave no result. When Aleksei was 3 years old his father left the family, and all the problems fell on the mother’s shoulders.
In 2005 at the Chernobyl hospital, a diagnosis was finally made: Bruton’s syndrome (lack of immunoglobulins and plasmocytes), which can only happen to boys in one of 250,000 cases. Any sickness can be fatal for the boy. A life long replacement therapy was prescribed so he must return to the hospital every month. Bit by bit the therapy has started to show results. The teenager started to grow quickly and play sports. He has a dream of becoming a good children’s doctor because he himself had to bear a lot…

In 2013 however, it was discovered that the boy has active forms of hepatitis B and C. He was infected during the injections of immunoglobulins. The Kiev Institute of Virulent Diseases agreed to start treatment, but it may be very lengthy.

Aleksei knows how to enjoy life, and he treats people around him with understanding. He had put up with Bruton’s syndrome for which there is no cure, but the hepatitis must be treated immediately because the boy has no immunity and every day is precious. We believe that he will make it relying on human kindness, God’s mercy and his own optimism. Please help us to raise the money for Aleksei’s treatment because the boy and his mother cannot collect the whole amount with their own efforts!
