Kirilko: to survive in Kharkiv

When 5-year-old Kyrylo ran with his mother to hide in the basement, his inhaler crashed. A child with an inborn severe disease of cystic fibrosis, who struggles to breathe every day must now survive in the terrible realities of war: be treated for exacerbations over the phone, hide in a bomb shelter for a long time, frightened by every loud sound. Unfortunately, there are reasons why the family cannot leave Kharkiv.

Kyrylo's diagnosis was not established immediately. Already on the 4th day of his life, the baby underwent complex surgery due to the intestinal obstruction. The doctors have been searching for the cause of the child's poor health for two years, until they could confirm cystic fibrosis. This diagnosis means that due to the genetic damage, the mucus in Kyrylo's  lungs, liver, pancreas and intestines is much thicker than normal - and it disrupts the work of many organs. The mucus accumulates in the boy's bronchi and becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, that's why Kyrylo often coughs, it is difficult for him to breathe. To alleviate the condition, the child should do several inhalations a day and take a handful of medications. And still perform physiotherapeutic exercises and move a lot to make the sputum go away more easily.

Now the boy needs modern medical equipment: an inhaler with a spare set of consumables so the medicine gets into the lungs; a flutter – to perform special breathing exercises; a spirograph – to monitor the current state of the lungs and provide the doctor with accurate data to prescribe treatment and evaluate its effectiveness. Also, Kyrylo is in dire need of medicine. We have already sent several packages, but this stock is catastrophically small. So we ask for help so that our boy can live.
