Kyiv Oblast Children's Hospital Needs Help

The Kyiv Regional Children's Hospital provides multidisciplinary, highly specialised medical care to sick children who need special diagnostic and treatment methods. These are 10,000 treated children, more than 5,000 operations per year in this hospital, which has 340 beds, of which 12 beds belong to the departments of anesthesiology and intensive care for children. Also, the hospital operates a polyclinic for 200 visits per work shift.

During its half-century history the hospital has become one of the leading medical health care institutions in the Kyiv region. Each year the hospital treats and nurses 550 newborns with perinatal pathologies and premature births, about 150 of them need intensive care and are treated in the department of anesthesiology with beds for intensive therapy of premature and newborn babies. These are prematurely born children and children with severe perinatal pathology, who undergo prolonged respiratory therapy, infusion therapy, continuous monitoring of vital functions. And all young patients require high quality diagnostics. The goal of our project is to purchase a modern ultrasound machine.

Ultrasound is an important, fast, non-invasive method of diagnosing and monitoring a significant number of pathologies. It is routinely used by neonatal intensive care units, departments of neonatal pathology, anesthesiology and intensive care in heavy, low-mobility patients, patients on ventilator ventilation, prematurely born children. It allows to make the differential diagnostics of urgent conditions, including trauma patients, non-traumatic hemorrhages, pulmonary pathology when it is necessary to render urgent help as soon as possible, as well as to control the dynamics of the disease and conduct monitoring. sonography, according to FAST, FATE and BLUE protocols.

The apparatus, which is in use at the moment and the hospital, more than 20 years old, is technologically outdated, there is no color display, sector neonatal sensor, does not allow to provide new methods of sonography. In order to provide effective specialist care for children and improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment, the Kyiv Regional Children's Hospital needs a new machine for ultrasound diagnosis.
