Leisure club for the elderly

Attention and support for the elderly is an extremely important task, especially in times of war, when much attention is drawn to other social problems. The Caritas Kyiv Charitable Foundation calls for support for a special project for older citizens whose lives have been affected by the war in Ukraine. Let this initiative be a reminder that everyone needs support and help at this time, especially the elderly.

The situation in Ukraine makes us think: do we really pay due attention to the lives of senior citizens, do they have close friends and do they have the opportunity to relax? These aspects are often overlooked.

Taking into account the realities of our time and the needs of the elderly generation, we at Caritas Kyiv are launching an important project – the Leisure club for the elderly people, within which senior citizens will have the opportunity to learn how to knit thick yarn blankets. This technique is performed exclusively by hand, without the use of complex materials, which makes it very convenient and accessible to everyone. Meetings will be held 2-3 times a month. The result of our efforts – blankets woven with warmth and love – will be a wonderful gift for children in need.

The main goal of this project is to create a club that will become not only a great hobby, but also a place for communication and exchange of experience among older people. Let's remember that life goes on after the age of 60. It can be rich and interesting. To implement this project, we need to purchase materials – thick yarn weighing 60 kg, worth UAH 57,000.
