News February 2026
This winter is about survival for us, I'm just panicking... I didn't expect that we would have to fight again for the girls to be able to hear.’
These are the words of Anastasia Shevtsova, mother of twins Katya and Ksyusha, from an interview with journalists from Suspilne Dnipro.

Today we want to introduce you to the story of the Shevtsov family.
The twelve-year-old sisters have severe hearing impairments. Katya has two cochlear implants, and Ksyusha has an implant and a hearing aid.
The girls would even prefer to sleep with their implants in: they are very afraid of missing any explosions. However, charging one device requires 8 hours of uninterrupted power supply. Therefore, the girls currently use only one implant at a time, and sometimes even that runs out of power.
Implants are very expensive, and are usually installed at the expense of the state. Their parents bought the hearing aid on credit at the end of last year.
It seemed that their hearing problems had been solved for the foreseeable future, but then the power cuts began. Katya and Ksyusha cannot hear again.
This family has no chance of getting a charging station from the state: the sisters have disabilities, but they do not have subgroup A.
Their only hope is for caring people.
