"Crystal" Victoria
Victoria lives in a "crystal" body - for her 8 years this girl had more than 50 fractures. Each time it is a new pain, crying and hospital. The problem name is osteogenesis imperfecta. Victoria's mother and brother also suffer from this hereditary disease. The first fracture in the girl occurred in 5 months - it was a broken right rib, in 9 months and 1 year – was broken leg, 1 year and 2 months - a broken forearm, then - a fracture of the left femur ... With increasing of physical activity, unfortunately increased and the number of fractures. Currently girl does not walk, but only creeps and because of this Victoria's brother had to carry her on arms risking by his own health.
Osteogenesis imperfecta it is not even a disease but a group of genetic disorders that develop because of a lack of collagen or of poor quality of it in the body. Like most genetic diseases, osteogenesis imperfecta can not be cured. In people with this disease are very fragile bones, shortened deformed limbs and permanent fractures. In severe cases, the child gets damaged in the womb. One misstep, a bad fall or sit-up and as a result - broken bones of hands and feets, numerous operations and in the end - wheelchair. Thanks to modern methods of treatment, little "crystal" children are able to live without pain.
In November 2015 the girl was treated at the Institute of Spine and Joints by. prof. M.I.Sitenko. In spite of continuous use of medications (osteogenon, Aquavit D, courses of drugs of pamidron acid), massage and physical therapy, doctors recommend also to provide operation - correction of deformation of hips and shins using hardware constructions manufactured by individual measures.
Victoria hopes that with our help she will be able to walk and live a full life. Girl loves animals, especially small pony. To support this sincere child in Ukraine also began flashmob "Present a pony to Victoria".
