Andrii is a smart and open young man with a great sense of humor, his own dreams, and a strong desire to be independent.
Behind him are many years of treatment, rehabilitation, and daily work on himself. Since childhood, Andrii has been used to procedures and exercises that have become a part of his life. Yet he has always remained open to the world, eager to learn, communicate, and discover something new.
He was born with a spinal hernia that ruptured during childbirth. His first surgery was performed immediately after birth to save his life. After the surgery, he lost sensation and movement in his legs.
Today, Andrii studies, communicates with people, has his own interests, and makes plans for the future. He easily connects with others, is interested in the world around him, and wants to be an active part of life. But his biggest dream remains the same – to learn to walk.
He constantly works on improving his movements, follows his home treatment program, and regularly undergoes treatment courses, as each course gives him more chances to make his dream come true – to walk independently. Doctors confirm positive changes: he feels his body better, uses his legs more actively, and makes attempts to stand and move.
Andrii lives with his mother in Sloviansk. Due to the war, life there remains difficult and unpredictable. Swimming, which was once an important part of his life, is no longer available because of the current situation. He continues exercising at home and working on himself every day.
Raising funds for older children is always more challenging. Their stories often receive less attention, although their need for support does not become smaller. Behind every such fundraiser is a person who has been working on himself for years and wants to have more opportunities for an independent life.
If Andrii’s story touches your heart, please support him. Your help will allow him to continue treatment and keep working toward the dream he has had for many years.
Because dreams are meant to come true. Even for adults.
