Kurazh: Mental Health. Mentoring training
This year, Kurazh chose the theme of the year – the theme of mental health. Throughout the year, Kurazh will support initiatives and projects that do much to develop this topic in Ukraine, so that people themselves are not afraid to seek help, understand and do not condemn those who need help.
In July, Kurazh will finance a mental health project from the profits: 80,076 UAH to train 500 volunteers to help people with mental disorders monitor changes in their condition and correct them in a timely manner according to medical recommendations. Of these: 41,076 UAH to pay for tuition for volunteers at BALTIJAS STUDIJU CENTRS "NET UNIVERSITY" (Latvia), as well as 39,000 UAH to pay for practical training for volunteers.
According to the WHO, the world is home to 1.5% of people with bipolar affected disorder (BAD). Therefore, at least 10,000 such patients live in Kyiv alone. But no more than a third of them receive qualified psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care. BAD is a mental disorder in which a person's moods change uncontrollably: from deep depression to uncontrollable mania. Between them – the state of norm (remission). This uncontrollability leads to the desocialization of these people: they are not hired, excluded from professional and even friendly communication.
The purpose of our project with ARC "BARwinOK" – to improve the lives of patients with BAD and other mental disorders through controlled prolongation of remission through the professional support of well-trained mentors. By the end of 2021, we plan to:
Step 1. To teach 10 volunteers (psychologists, relatives and friends of people from BAD) the theory of mentoring for professional support according to the certified American method through BALTIJAS STUDIJU CENTRS "NET UNIVERSITY" (Latvia).
Step 2. Volunteers who have undergone theoretical training undergo practical training to consolidate theoretical knowledge on the basis of ARC "BARwinOK".
Step 3. Each of the mentors practically trained in the second step trains another 5+ volunteers from their environment (on a charitable, free basis). The whole learning process, as well as the mentoring and charitable activities of the participants are covered in the media and social networks, which will help spread the idea of charity in Ukraine.
To do this, we need to raise 80,076 UAH to prepare 500 volunteers who would professionally help people with mental disorders.
Join us, support the project on dobro.ua and let's develop the topic of mental health in Ukraine together!
