Children's Hope: helping unbreakable children

The St. Nicholas Children's Hospital as part of the National Rehabilitation Center "Unbreakable" is undoubtedly a unique hospital. Here, children from all over Ukraine receive comprehensive medical care from birth to adulthood: emergency care for life-threatening conditions, high-tech surgical treatment according to the latest international protocols, state-of-the-art diagnostics with the latest CT scanners, expert-level angiography, and care for burn injuries.

St. Nicholas Hospital is one of only two tertiary care centers in Ukraine providing care for burn patients and patients requiring reconstructive surgery. It is the only ECMO Center in the western regions of Ukraine.

More than 40 thousand patients are treated here every year. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the hospital has become a medical hub where children affected by Russian aggression are treated. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, doctors have rescued and rehabilitated 350 seriously wounded children here. These are kids with mine, gunshot and shrapnel wounds, severe burns and traumas.

Burn injuries rank second among childhood injuries and are among the most difficult to treat. Currently, Ukraine is forced to send the most seriously burned children abroad due to the lack of sterile conditions and sufficient medical equipment.

Today, the children's burns unit urgently needs the following equipment:

•  Venue ultrasound diagnostic system;
•  Two sectoral transducers: paediatric 6S-RS and adult 3Sc-RS.

 Easy to use and designed specifically for emergency cases, it allows you to examine a patient right at the bedside, in the operating room, and in any corner of the hospital.
In a matter of minutes, the device allows you to obtain high-resolution images and diagnose problems, monitor the effectiveness of treatment, determine the need for intervention, and even monitor the patient's condition during and after surgery. It is also a navigation tool for central vascular access.
Fast and prompt diagnosis is a crucial golden time to save a child. Due to the war, the workload of the medical institution has tripled. And the irreplaceable equipment that has served for years is no longer able to cope with the challenges.
