Treatment can be painless

Treatment of children's cancer lasts 6-18 months. Almost every day of such treatment is accompanied by various unpleasant and often painful procedures. It is very hard to convince a child that he or she needs to endure pain in order recover. A little patient can start fighting with the disease only when he feels himself comfortably. Everyone who surrounds the child – parents, doctors, nurses try to achieve it.

Many hours drips every day, several daily injections of various solutions and medications, intravenous anesthesia during irradiation and punctures, blood sampling for analysis. If we multiply these manipulations by months of treatment, the number of intravenous interventions will reach hundreds of times. So, children with cancer have to endure not only hard chemotherapy treatments and side effects, but also daily painful puncture of veins.

Peripheral and subclavian catheters are used as an alternative to needles. But these devices are extremely imperfect. Peripheral catheter could be used only for three days; subclavian catheter is often accompanied by inflammatory complications in the child body that is weakened by the chemotherapy.

Venous mini-port - is a device which facilitates the treatment of children with cancer. It is hard to underestimate its benefits. Mini-port (inserted at the beginning of treatment) is just a small tube that is visible under the skin near the neck. A little child will not be longer crying at the sight of a nurse because the drip setting is no longer a painful procedure. A fragile teenage girl will not suffer from peripheral catheter insertion in the thin veins.

Improvement of the treatment quality costs more than 9 000 UAH - this is the price of the port. But this price is completely justified by every day during prolonged treatment.
