"From Monday patients will be hospitalized to the Department only after getting tested for Covid-2019", this news on Friday sounded shocking. As while at the Childhood Cancer Department the result is influenced by timely chemotherapy courses. We started monitoring opportunities and solution options. Since Monday we have a contract with the Laboratory signed and we started testing. However the question "why parents have to pay for it?" didn’t disappear. We aroused it on social networks; we sought official explanations from the Ministry of Health Protection; we stayed in touch with TV channels.

The necessity of PCR testing for covid-2019 is understandable – it provides safety to health care workers and other patients. But why would parents or donators pay for it? Later on the Ministry of Health issued an order on the necessity to do testing prior to hospitalization and provided their variant of free-of-charge testing – through Kyiv city Laboratory center. However, it takes this center 10 days to process tests and issue results, but our patients urgently need chemotherapy and can not wait for 10 days. That is why our Foundation decided to cover PCL tests which are ready within 24 hours.

As of today (within 16 days) we have helped to examine 45 persons. We hoped it would be a temporary solution, but doctors are persistently asking us not to leave patients in this situation.
Please help us to carry on this project as we did not expect it! Please help children from the pediatric oncology department of the National Cancer Institute to get life-saving medical care in time!
