When the family arrived in Lviv for the final round of chemotherapy, Tanya came down with chickenpox. After she had recovered, she was allowed to return home for a week, but the family are planning to return to the hospital on Tuesday to complete her treatment.
The illness proved to be quite severe: the rash covered her whole body, and the worst part was the rash on her scalp, face and ears. She was treated in Lviv, and once her condition improved, she was able to return home briefly.
Fortunately, Tanya is now feeling much better, although she is feeling a bit down. For the second year running, her birthday falls during her treatment, so she will once again have to celebrate away from home.
The doctors are not yet giving any clear prognosis, as they are awaiting a response from abroad, where a decision is being made regarding which clinic will be able to admit Tanya for further treatment.
