Proton therapy abroad was cancelled because the waiting time would have been far too long. The doctors therefore decided not to delay and to start radiotherapy in Lviv.
Due to the metal implant and the bone graft, the treatment was not straightforward for Tanyusha. The doctors warned of possible sores and burns to the mucous membrane, as well as the risk of damage to other teeth. Her mum was very worried about her daughter, but they had to go through this stage of treatment.
Before starting the treatment, Tanyusha had a CT scan and a special mask made. The girl is now back home with her mum and is awaiting further advice from the doctors.
In six weeks’ time, she will need to return for another CT scan to assess the results of the treatment. Tanyusha is already very keen to return to school and her normal life.
