Future Architect to Overcome Hepatitis
Pasha has hepatitis B that is transforming into cirrhosis of the liver. The boy has been battling the disease for four years. Before that, Pasha managed to overcome acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After a lot of effort and a few years of therapy, leukemia seceded, but the boy’s family didn’t get a relief. Pasha was infected with hepatitis during one of the multiple procedures. Every week his mom is under a lot of stress trying to figure out where to get the money for another shot of hepatitis medication. The family is under a financial strain and is asking all kind-hearted and caring individuals for help.
Every morning after breakfast, Pasha takes a handful of pills; when he’s back home from school, it’s time for his afternoon dose of medication; another dose is awaiting him after dinner. He’s lived like this for a few years now; medication helps maintain his health at a decent level. Unfortunately, the pills are not enough. The boy is supposed to take a weekly dose of Pegintron to overcome hepatitis B. This medication has been keeping Pasha alive for the past year and a half. Doctors from Dr. Bogomolets’ Institute suggest that Pasha continue the course of Pegintron for at least another year. The medication is quite pricey – 2,200 UAH (approx. 268 USD) per package, with the monthly amount coming to 8,845 UAH (approx. 1,080 USD). The treatment needs to be continued uninterrupted in order for the liver function probe and other tests to stay normal
In order to afford his son’s medication, Pasha’s father has been going to Russia to find jobs as a seasonal worker. He hasn’t been able to see his family for 10 months at a time. However, the boy’s treatment is more costly than what his father has been bringing home. Despite the difficult situation, Pasha has been acting like an adult and trying to cheer up his mom. He tells her that they just need to wait a little longer, and he’ll definitely get better. The boy thanks God for being able to move, talk and even run without assistance. He realizes that it’s largely because of Pegintron that he will soon turn twelve.
Pasha dreams of becoming an architect one day, whatever it may take. He draws very well. His art school teachers are proud of him and say that he is very talented. However, he needs to keep attending the school to maintain the development of his skills. As of today, the boy’s family can’t afford this. Pasha’s parents believe in good people. They ask anyone who’s not indifferent to their misfortune to help them with the Pegintron expenses.
This project was canceled, the amount collected is 65 875 UAH. The funds were disposed of in accordance with the Rules, Principles, and Procedures of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace (UBB) International Charitable Fund and the decisions of the Project Donors.
