We are raising funds for creative materials and a series of master classes for 30-40 children in difficult life circumstances – children living in the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation and children growing up in families experiencing difficult times: large families, low-income families, and internally displaced families.
During children's leisure time, we want to introduce them to the Ukrainian tradition of wreath weaving.
This will help them develop fine motor skills, feel a sense of cultural belonging, and aid in their psychological recovery. For today's children of war, anxiety, loss, and constant uncertainty are dangerous stresses that can last for many years. Without a safe space and support, these emotions accumulate and destroy lives in the future.
We will hold 8 creative workshops in Kyiv. Classes will be held in small groups of up to ten children in a safe environment, with the participation of a psychologist with many years of experience working with children in difficult circumstances.
Each master class will last 1-1.5 hours and will provide children with a space for:
-
psychological recovery and aesthetic development,
-
support,
-
the joy of crafting and the feeling of "I can do it".
In total, this is 12-16 hours of creativity and at least 40 woven wreaths – as talismans, symbols of unity and hope.
The project budget is 16,000 UAH. 200 UAH covers the materials for one wreath and time in a supportive environment for one child.
Weaving a wreath is both a creative master class and a form of psychological recovery called ethnotherapy, which restores a child's sense of childhood, support, and connection to their roots for many years to come. Such creativity calms anxiety and gives the child control over their own world, transforming pain into peace, instability into stability, and vulnerability into inner strength. Even your small contribution to the project is an investment in the future of children who will learn to rebuild their lives with ideas and actions and adapt to change when the most difficult trials appear on their life path
UPD: the name and text of the project have been updated. Old project name: "Master classes. Ukrainian wreaths".
