The Ukrainian floral wreath, or «vinok», is much more than a beautiful headpiece. It is a powerful symbol of our culture, beauty, and the unbreakable bond between generations. A vibrant element of Ukrainian tradition, the vinok accompanies girls and women through the most important moments of their lives. It embodies harmony with nature, love for our homeland, and deep respect for family values. The very process of weaving a wreath is an art, focusing on the harmonious combination of diverse colors, styles, flowers, and leaves.
Working with one's hands has a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to restore inner balance, trust, and harmony, while alleviating anxiety. In a circle of friends, wreath-weaving creates an atmosphere of trust and support where everyone can feel a sense of unity and be truly heard – all while creating their very own vinok. This is crucial for everyone, from children and youth to the elderly, who often face emotional loss, feelings of isolation, and uncertainty in today's world.
Today, as Ukraine endures tremendous challenges, it is more important than ever to preserve our cultural roots, pass them from the older to the younger generation, and promote Ukrainian traditions. We aim to create a space for creativity, communication, and mutual support, allowing everyone to feel part of the Ukrainian community.
We dream of hosting numerous Ukrainian wreath-weaving workshops at our Foundation in Kyiv. These gatherings will provide a friendly environment where participants can learn and create together, share experiences and personal stories, and foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels accepted and valued. In this way, the ancient craft of wreath-weaving becomes a tool for emotional healing and recovery. By coming together in a circle, participants of all ages will feel the strength of unity, gain new experiences, form friendly connections, and restore their faith in the future.
By supporting our project, you will give our workshop participants the gift of positive emotions and a sense of belonging, helping to ensure our culture is passed on to the next generation. Your contribution will allow us to purchase the necessary materials and cover the costs of skilled instructors who will teach participants how to weave these beautiful symbols of our heritage.
