Maxym decided not to give up. 3
Maxim Nechyporuk’s mother turns to all indifferent people for help with raising funds for the treatment of her son at Bersenev Medical Center in Kyiv. Essentially the boy was born healthy. His mother’s heart was filled with joy by her watching this. But when Maxim was three years old, she noticed that he started to be behind his peers in mental development. Further, physical retardation appeared. The boy felt weakness in his legs; it became difficult for him to go upstairs and get over long distances. He started gradually losing acquired habits. He forgot how to dress and undress, eat, run and his speech started gradually disappearing.
When Maxim was twelve, he was diagnosed as leukodystrophy, Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease. This disease is associated with the metabolic imbalance and causes very serious disorders. Having studied all the symptoms of this disease carefully, the boy’s mother was shocked and scared. Almost none of the doctors faced such children; in Kharkiv, medical specialists said that they had only the second child with such a diagnosis.
Mother decided to go through fire and water for her son’s s life and health. They make much effort, time and money for treatment and rehabilitation. The kid undergoes regular courses of treatment at Bersenev Medical Center, rehabilitations at the Institute of Prosthetics in Kharkiv, as well as in Hadji Bey Sanatorium. Regular comprehensive treatment will give Maxim a chance to walk by himself. Although he has pubescence and rapid growth now, he has grown by 25 cm for a year and a half. But he still tries to walk with the only help of his mother because of titubation. The child’s mother believes in his recovery and looks forward to it. She also asks everyone for support and help, as she can’t manage it herself. Let's give a helping shoulder to Maxim together!
