Little Polina dreams of dancing. 5
UBB donors have already fallen in love with the little blonde Polina. She captivates everyone with her dimples on her cheeks. But not many people know that behind this radiant smile hides a lot of pain and the tragic fate of the child. The mother tells the story of little Polina inconsistently and through the constant pronoun "we", completely dissolved in her daughter: "As a mother of a special child, you cannot give up, write a story and have to remember everything from the very beginning, how much the child wanted, what dreams were: maternity leave, then kindergarten, to work, to send the child to dance, school, trips to the sea. Then I remember how the war started in our city. This constant fear, not understanding what will happen next. And then came the day when my girl and I met.
They should have done a cesarean, but the doctor said that there was nothing to worry about, I can give birth by myself. We were born without signs of life, there was only a weak heartbeat. After resuscitation, we were given 3 points on the Apgar scale. We ourselves did not breathe for about two weeks. We were transported from Sloviansk to Kramatorsk. There, due to shelling, we went down to the basement for three days, everything was like a nightmare. Then the children in most critical conditions were sent to Donetsk (it was still calm there for a month). After the examination, a small helpless child was given a terrible diagnosis – 90 percent paralysis. It knocked the ground out under my feet, I could not believe these words. That feeling cannot be expressed in words, I did not know what and how. All those dreams and that happiness crashed, when your child is healthy when he plays with friends, runs, jumps has fun, enjoys his childhood... unfortunately, not everyone has such happiness...".
Since then, the baby has gone through a lot. Doctors, hospitals, medicines, rehabilitation gave their results, which mother can't share without pride: "We have our happiness, which at 5 years old learned to sit, crawl, tries to talk, loves me to read books, has a good memory. I would also say that we are very cunning and smart, we attend kindergarten, we are praised. But we regularly need rehabilitation courses after which we become stronger and rise one more step higher in our development!".
With the help of UBB donors, 4 rehabilitation courses have already been completed. But we can’t stop here. There is still a lot of work and victories ahead. Polina's mother asks for help to get to the next course of necessary treatment! Everyone can change the fate of a sick child, bring her as close as possible to a healthy life!
