Little hearts are waiting for help

This project was created as part of Vodafone Ukraine's charity program "A Good Deed as a Gift".

In the My Vodafone app, subscribers accumulate bonus points and use them for more than just discounts. The company has created a mechanism that turns ordinary bonuses into real help for children.

Four children from different parts of Ukraine are awaiting heart surgery. They all have a congenital defect that is not always visible externally but poses a real threat. To correct it, there is no need to open the chest cavity: modern endovascular surgery allows an occluder to be inserted through a minimal puncture. The child returns home in just a few days. There is only one problem: the implant costs between 49,500 and 140,000 hryvnia, and the state does not cover this. Families collect the money themselves, as best they can.

1. Arina Merkulova, age 4, Kirovohrad Oblast. Arina was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at birth. Doctors are now recommending that Arina undergo surgery to close the defect using an occluder. Arina’s mother is on maternity leave, and her father is a soldier who has been defending Ukraine since December 2025. Due to the high cost of the implant, her parents are unable to raise the necessary funds on their own. The cost of the occluder is 140,598 UAH. 

2. Olga Yusupova, age 2, Kyiv. At six months of age, Olga was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect—an atrial septal defect. Doctors at the M. M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery now recommend closing the defect using an occluder. She comes from a large family raising three daughters. Her father is a military serviceman who has seen combat. The family cannot afford to purchase the expensive implant on their own. The cost of the occluder is 140,598 UAH. 

3. Anastasia Fediv, age 9, Lviv Oblast. Anastasia grew up as an active child, and there were no signs of heart problems. But recently, during a routine medical examination, doctors discovered that the girl had a congenital heart defect—a patent ductus arteriosus. Anastasia now urgently needs endovascular surgery to implant an occluder, which will help close the duct in the least traumatic way possible. The girl is being raised by her single mother. The cost of the necessary occluder is 49,500 UAH.
