In 2019, Tetiana gave birth to a wonderful daughter, Maria. The labor was induced but went well. The baby was born with a weight of 3,150 grams and an Apgar score of 7-9. Everything seemed to be going well, but a few hours later, the baby stopped breathing and began to convulse. Doctors said that if she survived the night, she would live. And Mariya did.
The girl was on a ventilator for five days, and two weeks later she was discharged. Monthly examinations and six months of anticonvulsant medication were ahead, which, fortunately, gave the result – there were no more seizures. However, due to respiratory arrest, the brain was damaged, and at the age of one, the child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Since then, Maria and her mother have been undergoing regular rehabilitation courses, mostly at their own expense. According to doctors' recommendations, such courses are required at least 4 times a year. The cost of each rehabilitation course is considerable, and the family is not always able to pay for it.
But the classes are working: after the first course, Mariya started sitting up, at the age of 2 she started walking and learned to use the potty. The girl's tone in her legs has decreased, although there is still less improvement with her hands – she still has weak fine motor skills, and because of this, at 5 years old, the girl does not speak yet. She needs regular sessions with a speech therapist and a defectologist.
Maria is a cheerful, active, kind and very sweet child. Her mother is doing everything possible to give her daughter a happy and fulfilling future. Now the girl needs rehabilitation.
