Marina's X day has to in February.
Is it possible to accept that the life is over when you are only 44?Especially if you have your dream job and your students are waiting for you in the classroom? When you have so many creative music, art and sewing ideas you want to pursue? When you have a loving husband and teen daughter beside you? When you have just started feeling mature, found yourself in this life and keen to share your experiences and knowledge with the students and be useful to your country. Would you accept the failure and live separated in your flat on disability state benefits?
“ I can't stay isolated from the society indoor. Despite my usual pain and lameness every day I go tho the world to prove that I have a right to live, work and create like anyone else” - Marina says.
In February 2010 Marina was diagnosed with right femur bone cancer followed by knee and bone replacement. Unfortunately, Marina had a post-operative infection and doctors had to remove the implants. The last 3.5 years has been a real battle for her life : treatment of postoperative complications, big risk of leg amputation and hope. It seems that nothing is impossible for this lady who is always on the move and infecting everyone with her optimism.
“I teach in a professional collage in Kramatorsk. My personal formulation of happiness is very simple:
I teach the History of Ukraine and Sociology in order to make my students proud of our country and become respectful members of society. I believe that we reach the period of our biggest professional, personal and life potential in our forties. I have so many plans for the future but non of them involves the wheel chair. I want to see my daughter grow up, share her successes and make sure she will find her place in the life. I feel that I still have so much to offer and share. Every day I fight for my life and try to stay as strong I can.”
In order to cure the infection the first prothesis had to be removed. Now her leg is connected by temporary metallic spacer. Marina can walk but she can't bend her knee. The problem is, this spacer has to be replaced by the new prothesis no later then 6-8 months because of the significant risk of developing a scar tissue and muscular atrophy. If it persists too long Marina may not be able to walk normally again. Marina's X day has to in February... March the latest. By this time we have to raise the money for the new prothesis, manufacturer – custom make it, doctors – to do the operation.
