Medical care for babies and their mothers

The Volyn Regional Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood* is the only institution in the region that provides multidisciplinary specialized emergency medical care to children and mothers in Volyn. It has the only round-the-clock children's trauma center and oncohematology center in the region; the perinatal center has 2 anesthesiology and intensive care units for newborns, a neonatology emergency team, and performs complex surgical interventions.

For example, in 2024, the Volyn Regional Perinatal Center performed cardiac surgery on a prematurely born baby. Little Eva was born at 26 weeks of gestation with a body weight of 900 grams. The infant was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which resulted in severe respiratory and heart failure. On March 01, 2024, Eva underwent a successful cardiac surgery. The process of nursing preterm babies is extremely difficult and troublesome. It is a constant struggle for little lives. Therefore, the availability of professional medical equipment of any kind is very important, especially when it comes to children's lives.

Unfortunately, the institution lacks a professional high-precision coagulator that will allow it to provide the highest quality medical care to as many young patients and their mothers as possible, ensuring minimal trauma and quick recovery.

This equipment allows surgeons to work with great precision, which is very important not only for young patients but also for pregnant women. The coagulator uses a high-frequency electric current to perform various surgical procedures, such as cutting, tissue fusion, heating, etc. This allows doctors to work with great precision, and as a result, halves the recovery time for patients after surgery. 

In total, the hospital has 550 inpatient beds, receives more than 20,000 patients a year and performs about 10,000 surgeries of varying complexity.
