Mykhailyk needs liver transplantation

Little boy Mykhailyk is only 6 months old. He has not seen much besides the hospital walls. He was born with a congenital pathology and now needs a liver transplantation. The child keeps living because of dropper and other medicine… And he believes this is a true life! He does not know what is behind the hospital walls, and what it is to live, like we do… A Belgian clinic agreed to save the kid, but the expense of transplantation is so big for a simple family. After his birth Mykhailyk seemed to be healthy but just a little bit yellowish. When leaving a hospital parents were told that this is normal and everything will be ok… Days were passing, family was happy. Though parents were still concerned about Mykhailyk to remain yellow for such a long time and even sclera of his eyes was of that colour. Mykhailyk is the third child in the family, parents knew that newborn jaundice should not last so long. Although the doctor from their regional hospital accused them of being overcautious and trouble-seekers (he claimed that the little boy was healthy), parents went to Lviv, where after a more thorough analysis the boy was diagnosed with a severe pathology – biliary atresia.

Then the Kasai operation (portoenterostomy) was carried out, but unfortunately this did not lead to the desired result. Severe vascular pathology was also revealed. Poor boy is alive only because of the qualified Lviv doctor’s actions and thanks to medicine he is given. Mykhailyk cannot sit or turn and barely can holds his head. His weight for several months does not exceed 5 800 grams. Nevertheless, Mykhailyk smiles and plays!

Now Mykhailyk is 6-month-old, the little boy’s condition is very unstable, his belly increased, the doctor says that emergency surgery is needed… His mother will be donor. One clinic from Belgium agreed to make surgery, but it is very expensive. Mykhailyk's family is asking all caring people to help save their son!
