Mykhailo chooses every step!

Balagura Mykhailo was born prematurely on March 13, 2019, at 34 weeks. Although his parents had planned the pregnancy, responsibly underwent all examinations and passed the necessary tests, this did not prevent circulatory problems, and oxygen stopped getting to Misha in the right amount. From the first days he began to fight for his life, spent 3 weeks in intensive care, where he was barely saved. His lungs, heart, liver, but most importantly, his brain, a significant part of it was affected, especially those areas responsible for vision and movement.

At the age of 10 months, Mykhailo was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, and speech and mental retardation. When his peers were already starting to walk, he could not even sit up and did not say "mom". Since then, a difficult path of constant training has begun, but the pandemic has hindered it. All rehabilitation centers closed, and his parents practiced at home as much as they could, but it was not enough.

In September 2020, Mykhailo and his parents finally got to a rehabilitation center in Kyiv. After the first course, his first dream came true - Mykhailo started crawling and sitting up. In 2020-2021, the boy completed 6 courses of rehabilitation, began to stand up and walk, holding one hand, but in February 2022, the great war came, and the primary need was to survive. Myshko, like everyone else, was nervous because of the anxiety and shelling, and he had seizures due to stress. Additional diagnoses slow down the boy's development, but regular classes help him grow. Despite everything, he helps his mother with household chores, loves music and sings songs.

Now Mykhailo is 5 years old, and it is very important to start walking independently as soon as possible, because when active growth begins, even the skills he already has may be lost. To avoid this, he needs to attend rehabilitation courses at least 4 times a year, and his parents have lost part of their income due to the full-scale invasion, so they have to ask for help. Misha is a very curious boy and wants to walk and explore the world. Let's help him take the first steps towards a happy and healthy childhood!
