Doctors from the Kyiv Children's Diagnostic Center asked us to buy a patients’ monitor. This equipment is necessary to help palliative patients. Here is what the parents of the children from the palliative departmment say:"I don’t know what to do and how to be... The situation is getting worse every month. The child can no longer chew normally, the lower jaw goes much inward. We were in consultation with the dentist from the palliative department and the doctor said that the situation can be corrected. Though we can’t delay for long, so far there is no way to do anything because there is no anesthesia available without the patients ‘monitor. We have been waiting for 4 months already. I really hope that everything works out", Daniel’s mother, 10 years old, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and partial atrophy of the optic nerves.

"Imagine how difficult it is to lie on a dentist's chair for a long time for a child with severe spasticity and a bunch of pathological reflexes? When the son bounces with his whole body from the ringing of metal instruments, the buzz of a drill and other sharp sounds. I have to hold his head, arms, and legs, and at the same time somehow control that he doesn’t hit doctor’s or assistants' hand... I’m even afraid to think about a situation where you have to seriously treat at least one tooth! We really need dentistry with anesthesia in our beloved Palliative!", mother of Renata Nasonov, 14 years old, diagnosis: cerebral palsy, double hemiplegia, symptomatic epilepsy, atrophy of the optic nerves, grade 3 scoliosis, subluxation of TBS, esophagospasm.

And there are about 5,000 such patients in the diagnostic center per year. Children with incurable diagnoses, chronic pain. Here they can receive dental, surgical care, which is carried out under general anesthesia. In such cases, a patient monitor is used. It is designed for continuous monitoring of the patient in the ward and during transportation inside the hospital, during and after manipulations. The monitor shows a full set of critical parameters – electrocardiogram, respiration, and electroencephalogram, the temperature of various parts of the body, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure and complete arrhythmia. It also helps to calculate the necessary doses of medication.

For more than a year, a department of mobile palliative care for children has been operating in the Kyiv Diagnostic Center. The monitor will be used by this department for dental and simple surgical care for bedridden patients.
