Hope in mother’s heart. 3

UPD: unfortunately, Bogdan died in intensive care. The child was rescued from pneumonia for two weeks, he was in serious condition. But the disease was stronger. The UBB team brings our most sincere words of condolences to the boy’s family and thanks everyone who supported Bogdan. On one hand, the story of the birth and a few first months of Bohdan’s life is similar to the stories of all children with ICP. On the other, it strikes. Pregnancy period was difficult. The baby was developing good, he supposed to be born healthy and in time. But it happened a bit different than the boy’s parents expected. On the 40th pregnancy week, Bohdan’s mother was taken to the maternity hospital, where she was put in a corridor expecting regular contractions, then waiting for doctors’ shift changes, a vacant delivery room etc. The baby was without water for almost a day... 

Bohdan survived thanks to the fact that prematurely he was strong and was born with good weight. The doctors did not give any assurances. The baby couldn’t breathe and he was taken to the intense care. Within four days he was on the mechanical respiration, on the fifth day he started breathing himself, he was feed through a probe. The baby was diagnosed with syndrome of hydrocephalus on the seventh day. First, the doctors were telling his Mom that the syndrome of hydrocephalus has to balance and the baby will be rehabilitated.

However, it was getting worse. The baby was crying all days long. Medication did not help. Hydrocephalus was developing, his head was growing. The doctors did not react to the complaints in the hospital, they were saying that the baby had a stomachache. When Bohdan was three months old, his mother appealed to the neurology unit of OHMATDET hospital, where the baby undertook MRI urgently. Bohdan was operated. The baby’s condition was better, yet, due to the pressure, brain cells were damaged.

Within a year, he was getting massage in the neurologic in-patient facility, but the baby was retarded.
When Bohdan was one year old, he was diagnosed with ICP, a spastic tetraparesis, but his mother decided to fight. She said: "Constant rehabilitation and exercises at home, though quite slow, give results. We believe that our patience and pains will lead to the desirable wishes and long-awaited results. I bring up the child by myself, I cannot work as I dedicate all the time to Bohdan’s rehabilitation. The father is not supporting us financially, he is not participating in Bohdan’s upbringing".

The hope is only on people who are not indifferent to someone else's misfortune, who, thanks to previous projects, have already helped to receive treatment for Bogdanchik. But you can’t stop!
