Problem: Every year, with the onset of the cold season, homeless people find themselves on the brink of survival. This year, due to the threat of continued lockdown and the reintroduction of strict quarantine measures, the homeless people lost the opportunity to receive food aid from ordinary citizens and food establishments. Some of the homeless people had to decide — to buy a mask to be able to use transport or for the same amount of money to buy food for the day. Now with the onset of the cold season, there is a real danger of a rapid increase in mortality among the homeless people due to the constant lack of food and the increased difficulty of accessing it. This is a direct threat to life and health.

Solution: Start a campaign #fed to raise funds for local emergency assistance to homeless people. The funds raised will be used to purchase 600 lunches for homeless people for distribution over 4 weeks. The cost of one lunch for a homeless person is UAH 81.45. This lunch will consist of three dishes: red borscht with meat, buckwheat with meat, pastries with stuffing and bread. The cost of lunch also includes the work of a chef, confectioner and individual packaging of biodegradable materials.

The total cost of the project, including transport costs, labor costs and administrative costs (including banking services) is UAH 115,050. Lunches will be distributed at two points in Kyiv — on Podil and Darnytsia, every Friday. Volunteers will be involved to assist in the distribution of hot food at the distribution points, as well as to monitor the observance of the distance. At each stage of project implementation will be present head of project, communication and project managers. We aim to feed 600 homeless people for 4 weeks. Thanks to this project, we plan to partially meet the basic food needs of homeless people for the cold season, thereby reducing mortality among them.
