Nourish the Child

Dear friends and all those who are not indifferent to the problems of children! With this letter, we appeal to You asking to help us to feed those poor children whose parents or care-takers are not capable of providing them with proper nutrition such as to include meat and fish. As a rule, they cannot afford fruit as well. For now our charitable soup-kitchen has no sufficient funds to buy groceries. If You do not help us, we will be forced to close it. This means that many children from the poor families will have to struggle daily with hunger!

The Charitable Organization “Caritas Kyiv” tries to do its best to provide those children with some food. These are children with disabilities, as well as those coming from low-income, single-parent and large families. A total number of those attending our soup-kitchen is 50-80 persons. Some of them actually do not have parents, while the parents of others are unemployed and therefore cannot provide their families with the most essential – necessary nutrition. Many of those families have great debts regarding their apartment rent, others are forced to live outside of their families, while some of them live even in the streets. They have no money for treatment, clothing or proper hygiene.

"Caritas Kyiv" assists them, as much as it can, with clothing, medicines, and food packages. Once a year, we seek to organize for such children summer camps in the Carpathians. In addition, the children come to the Caritas soup-kitchen where they can eat simple kind of food, but the one they can only dream of. This means fruit, hot dishes, sweets, fish and meat products. Obviously, it is difficult for the people who can enjoy proper meals to explain the joy those children experience of having the food we offer and thus being able to study and develop properly.

Unfortunately, our soup-kitchen has not enough money to provide for groceries and therefore is at risk of being closed. That is why we beseech You to help us in purchasing food for our poor children.
