The most cherished dream is recovery!

Maksym Liubytov was growing up and developing like a lot of his peers. He had friends, got good grades and played sport. The boy was going to enter the Department of Economics and visited a preparatory course. He didn’t know that his life would turn around and everything would dramatically change. From time to time he had a headache but the doctors assured it was just a puberty age and there’s no need to worry. When pain has become unbearable and Maksym had no more peace, night and day, he’s had a complex health survey in Kiev, which shown a terrible diagnosis – encephaloma of large size. 

It took posterior cranial fossa, cerebellum and began to go down to the spinal cord. There was no time to think, medication wasn’t even discussed – only surgery could save Maksim. But even in this case, doctors didn’t provide any warranties because it’s impossible to avoid invalidity even if a cerebellum surgery is performed successfully.

"I took a body from intensive care. Only pupillary responded", mother Anna recalls. General paralysis of the tongue, throat muscles, epiglottis, vocal cords and soft palate, speech disturbance, and tube feeding. His parents didn’t leave him alone for one minute watching by turns near a sickbed. During 6 months Maksym wasn’t self-aware, he didn’t respond to the outside world. Than, finally, it appeared to be some improvement. In ten months an ability to speak came back. The family wept of happiness.

This was followed by four long years of rehabilitation, massages, movement therapies, aqua aerobics, and speech therapy. Maksim had to explore everything over again. Now he is able to keep his head, to sit without support, to eat and drink by himself. Things which are a norm for other people are enormous efforts for Maksym. The only problem is that Maksym doesn’t walk by himself. Нe requires expensive rehabilitation. The rehabilitation center "Vernigora" in village Modrychi (Lviv region) is ready to take Maksym for treatment. The cost of the course lasting 90 days – 370 878,30 UAH. Family income does not allow collecting such amount for treatment. So we call on all not indifferent with a request to help this 20-year-old boy to get back on his feet. Because the illness took away the most precious things health and youth. But he can begin to live his full life! Do not pass by another’s trouble!
