Are we ready to understand children who are not able and may never learn to speak? Will we help them communicate in a different way? Most of the clients of Dzherelo Children’s Rehabilitation Centre in Lviv are unable to talk or write due to their disabilities (cerebral palsy, autism, genetic syndromes). Each of 115 children is provided with an individual approach at Dzherelo’s Kindergarten-School.

Teachers, psychologists, and other specialists use alternative means of communication, such as gestures, photos, pictures, pictograms, and symbols to teach children to communicate. Communication devices play a crucial role in teaching children with special needs. By pressing a button a child receives an opportunity to express his/her needs and feelings or to choose the next activity and thus become an active member of the learning process.

The raised funds will be used to buying speech-generating devices, computer mouse devices and keyboards with large keys, which will become a part of everyday life of children with special needs and will help them communicate differently.
