Sergiiko was born prematurely at 28 weeks due to pathological labor. His birth weight was only 980 grams. In the first minutes of his life, the boy was taken to intensive care – he had umbilical cord entanglement, hypoxia, and asphyxia. The infant spent five days on invasive mechanical ventilation, followed by 1.5 months on non-invasive mechanical ventilation (cannula, oxygen support). In total, he spent 60 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. After that, he spent another 20 days in the premature infant care unit.
While in intensive care, Sergii was diagnosed with cerebral edema, intraventricular hemorrhages, and hypoxic-ischemic brain damage. At 1 year of age, the child was diagnosed with "cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, severe motor disorders." The boy is now 1 year and 9 months old, and he still cannot sit, stand, or walk. Despite all the difficulties, his intellect is intact – Sergii responds to familiar people, he is emotional and attentive, and he strives to interact, although he does not yet speak but babbles actively.
Doctors strongly recommend that the boy undergo rehabilitation in specialized centers at least four times a year. The family was able to pay for several courses of treatment on their own. He underwent neurophysiological correction of the spine using the Koziavkin method, courses of massage, light therapy, reflexology, vibration therapy, apitherapy, and therapeutic physical training. And this is already yielding results. Sergii has become more active, attentive, and resilient. The blood supply to his limbs has improved, his muscle tone has decreased, and the range of his passive and active movements has increased. He can bend his arms better, open his palms more often, sleep better, and has an appetite. All this is thanks to the daily work and titanic efforts of his family. However, in order for the child not to lose the skills he has acquired and to continue moving forward, regular systematic rehabilitation is necessary.
Unfortunately, such courses require significant funds, which the family no longer has – all financial resources have been spent on saving and supporting Sergii since birth. Therefore, his parents are turning to caring people with a sincere request for help. Every hryvnia is a chance for this boy to get a new course of treatment, learn to sit, stand on his feet, take his first step, say his first word... walk, run, play. If you have the opportunity and desire to support this little fighter, please do not stand aside. Together, we can give Sergii a chance at a full life. His smile is the best thanks to everyone who helps.
