Children who have known the cold of indifference have now found a quiet, warm place. The hallways of our Center once again echo with children's laughter, and bright drawings appear on the tables – gifts the children give to staff members simply from the heart. This is the main sign: the inner ice has melted, and the children have begun to trust.
At our Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children in the city of Kyiv, 12 girls and boys between the ages of 2 and 17 live. They are brought to us from families where life was unsafe – due to cruelty, neglect, parental alcoholism, and other dangers. These are children whose childhood was stolen; some have never even been to school. Our mission is to restore their trust, motivate them to learn, give them a sense of purpose, and give them the chance to be happy.
For a child to unlock their potential, they need more than just a mentor – they need someone who believes in them and can guide them into the world of knowledge. For our residents, social educators become such guides – people with years of experience and boundless patience. They don't just teach reading, writing, or solving math problems. Every day, they help children make the most important discoveries: how the world works, how letters and numbers come together, how to recite poems and understand what they read.
Together with the educators, the children do homework, prepare for tests, catch up with the school curriculum – and sometimes even get ahead. But learning in our Center isn't just about school subjects; it's about learning to think, to analyze, and to find answers to difficult questions. At the same time, the educators teach the basics of daily life skills – opening a window to adulthood for the children. They play and create together, turning ordinary days into small success stories. Because real learning begins where there is trust and the support of someone by your side.
Thanks to you, we will be able to pay for the work of a social educator for one month, as well as cover utility costs. Please support our project – because education is the backbone of life, and our Center is a safe place where that can happen. What's more, it's a place where children truly begin to laugh from the heart.
