They did not give a chance for a full life

Our story is about a little charming girl named Mariia. The girl was born at 29 weeks of pregnancy with a weight of 1 kilogram and 450 grams. During the first 7 days of her life, Mariia was in intensive care in Sumy, the condition of her state at that time was stable. But what happened next was that nobody could even imagine that living in the 21-st century could still be a reality: the electricity was cut off as a result of an accident.

At that time Mariya was on the device of artificial respiration and almost during three hours the girl was ventilated manually, which led to intravaginal hemorrhage, with IV degree hemorrhage spreads on the brain tissue). As a result, the girl started to suffer from meningitis, which in its turn led to hydrocephalus and brain damage. During first 5 months of her lif, the parents were traveling in the search for daughter’s treatment, visited hopelessly many medical institutions in Ukraine and only the neurosurgeons in "OKHMATDYT" began to help a small girl. Operative intervention was carried out - the establishment of a liquid reservoir. After two months of liquor sonication a shuffle system "SOPHYSA" was installed.

Undoubtedly, there was an improvement of the Mariia’s state, but this is not enough to live and develop fully. After rehabilitation at the Institute of Pediatrics of Obstetrics and Gynecology Mariika has had epilepsy attacks. Because of the fact that in Ukraine for Mariia doesn’t exist the opportunity to help, the parents all year round, together with volunteers applied to various medical institutions abroad, and our girl was accepted for treatment to the German clinic HELIOS.

Doctors point out that Mariia is well suited for rehabilitation, showing high achievements and good results. Mariika has already been in the clinic for 2.5 months, but it is a critically small term for complete recovery, because the treatment requires all diagnoses of the girl at once. Due to the very severe form of epilepsy that was launched in Ukraine, the treatment process has become more complicated, but it is categorically impossible to interrupt at this stage, because there is a positive dynamics to lead a girl from a severe epileptic condition and stabilize.

In this regard, we are opening a fundraiser for the second stage of treatment for Mariia, whose course will last 60 days. At UBB, we collect only a portion of the required amount.
